No baby carrots for you

As I was packing my lunch this morning, I noticed a bag of baby carrots in the fridge. I said (to no one in particular), “Hey, can I take some of these to work?”

Joshua piped up and said, “No, you can’t!”

Surprised, I turned around to look at him, and said, “Why not?” Josh does not eat carrots, so why would he even care if I took some?

He said, “Those are for the guinea pigs.”

I said, “What guinea pigs? We don’t have any guinea pigs!”

He said, “I’m going to give them to our guinea pigs.”

I said, “But baby, we don’t have any guinea pigs, and I’m not buying any guinea pigs.”

He said, “I’m going to give them to RJ for her guinea pigs.”

RJ is this little girl at preschool who Josh is very fond of, and she has guinea pigs. Now it’s all making sense. No baby carrots for mommy, because they are for woo’ing a little girl at preschool.

It has already started.
