Various places in the city puts on events on the day of the Winter Solstice. We went to Granville Island to see the labyrinth of lights. All the walls in a large room in Performance Works was covered in dark cloths, and over 700 lit beewax candles were used to arrange a labyrinth. You can buy tickets in half-hour slots, and walk through the labyrinth. Some people walk through it with their hands held out at waist level with palms facing up, and there’s humming music playing in the background. It was very calming and mysterious all at the same time.
