Joshua is growing up faster than I care for. He can now truck around the entire apartment pushing the walker or his stroller. The assisted walking seem quite effortless for him. He likes to hold up my cell phone to his ear and say “hi”. He likes to open the freezer door on the fridge (our freezer is on the bottom of the fridge). He loves watching the food spin around in the microwave. He smiles when Cliff plugs in the Christmas lights. He can now say “shoe”, and the “Shua” part of his name, and 謝謝. He turned on the “self-cleaning” function on the stove today.
Just a few days ago, he did something that totally blew me away. We were sitting on the living room floor sharing a stick of cheese strings. I was holding onto the plastic wrap after we finished eating. He took the wrap from my hand to examine it. I said, “Joshua, do you want to put that in the garbage?” He took the wrap in his hand, crawled all the way to the kitchen, stood up, opened the cabinet door under the sink, put the plastic wrap in the garbage bin, and closed the cabinet door. I could hardly believe my eyes. I’ve never taught him the word “garbage”. How does he even know to go all the way to the kitchen and put the plastic wrap in the garbage bin?
I wonder if I stop giving him food, will he stop growing and be my little baby forever?
